Job Description

Position Title: Business Development Manager (WA)
Reports To: General Manager - IXL Metal Castings
Direct Reports: Nil
Key Relationships: Internal Stakeholders, Industry partners, major current and prospective customers
Location: Western Australia

IXL Metal Castings are seeking a Business Development Manager to serve our Western Australia client base. This role will report to the General Manager with a clear focus on driving business growth with existing and prospective customers through sound business development and account management initiatives. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience in serving the West Australian market working with high profile clients, and the ability to work remotely with internal stakeholders based in Geelong, Victoria.

The successful applicant must be willing to travel within key Western Australian regional areas including other Australian states and territories from time-to-time as required.

Key result areas include;

  1. Strategic Analysis

    The candidate should have comfort in understanding the Australian castings market and supply chains and possess the ability to stay up to date on market movements, customer and competitor trends and imports. Imperative to achieving results in this area will be the identification of market segments and customers relative to IXL capabilities and diversification opportunities.

    Measures: Timely monthly and annual reporting and development of business cases.

  2. Marketing Tools

    The candidate will have a level of comfort providing marketing suggestions including website input and development of website ideas, introduce regular new and innovative marketing & sales features, development of media articles and building brand awareness within the region.

    Measures: Development of business cases, submission of 1x advertorial per annum.

  3. Marketing Plans and Initial Sales

    Marketing plans should be strategic, clear, well documented and communicated to the key stakeholders. New opportunities to expand sales should be identified with a well-constructed 12-month forward plan.

    Measures: Annual reporting to Key Management Personnel and Directors.

  4. New Customers and Major Accounts

    The candidate should be able to liaise with the internal manufacturing team to provide the requisite information for development of customer quotes for new clients.

    Measures: Timely provision of engineering drawings and specifications to internal stakeholders. Working closely with the IXL management team to develop quotations.

  5. Existing Customers

    The candidate should possess a strong ability to build rapport and manage relations with existing customers with the abilty to develop new opportunities to expand sales.

    Measures: Customer retention and new opportunity development.

  6. Sales Plan and Budgets

    The candidate should possess comfort in the development of an annual sales and marketing budget, development of a sales plan and the ability to deliver to the sales plan in order to meet or exceed budget.

    Measures: Timely provision of information to the IXL management team. Sales revenue and profitability.

  7. Team work and communication

    The candidate will be expected to work closely with other IXL departments such as finance and manufacturing to maximise effectiveness of internal relationships. This includes all external stakeholders to nurture close business relationships.

    Measures: Provide effective contribution at review meetings, quality feedback and suggestions on product or customer concerns, clear unambiguous and professional communications between customers, prospects, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Selection Criteria

Skills - Essential: - Strong working knowledge of marketing and sales
- Strong communication both written and verbal
- Good working knowledge in quality, purchasing and production control systems
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Outlook and Excel)
- Excellent working knowledge of sales and budget planning
- Strong teamwork capabilities and relationship building skills
- Excellent negotiation and problem solving skills
- Good understanding of OHS requirements
Skills - Desirable: - Foundry and engineering knowledge
- Technical background would be an advantage
Qualifications and Experience: - Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline
- 10 years’ experience in a technical sales role
