The Foundry Moulder role is very hands on, working in a team environment where support of fellow workers and having safety as your number one is critical to the overall performance as a moulder and to health and safety in the workplace.
Moulders construct sand moulds for metal-casting, the moulder requires technical and mechanical skills, as the moulder will be responsible for making repairs and/or adjustments to existing moulds, using precision tools and will also be required to melt metals to create castings for the end user.
A moulder should have physical stamina to spend long hours on their feet and perform repetitive tasks. A moulder should also possess a strong knowledge of methoding associated with the loose patter side of the foundry industry.
What we look for –
• A trade in Metal Fabrication, Fitting, Boiler making or equivalent
• Forklift Licence and Gantry Crane Operation
• Experience in working in a metal trade
• Strong understanding of OHS requirements and a can-do safety attitude

The Foundry Furnaceman role is one that is very hands on, working in a team environment.
A furnaceman is responsible to pour metals into moulds, this position requires technical and mechanical skills, as the furnaceman will be responsible to prepare furnace charges as per the specifications and the safe operation of a 1-1.5 tonne coreless induction furnace.
A successful furnaceman should have the physical stamina to spend long hours on their feet and perform repetitive tasks.
The team environment is one of where support for fellow workers and having safety as your number one is critical to the overall performance as furnaceman and to health and safety in the workplace.
What we look for –
• A trade in Metal Fabrication, Fitting, Boiler making or equivalent
• Forklift Licence and Gantry Crane Operation
• Understanding of Microsoft Suite
• Experienced in preparation of furnace charges
• Strong understanding of OHS requirements and a can-do safety attitude

This role is for a Certificate III in Engineering is a 4 year role based on a developed training plan incorporating competency based training. This role will be directly employed through and based with IXL Metal Castings.
IXL Metal Castings have a direct relationship with the Australian Institute of Engineering (AIE) to ensure all our Apprentices are developed and assessed in accordance with the required practices.

The role of Metal Worker Labourer (Fettler/TA) involves the use of hand and pneumatic tools to remove excess metal from the various castings in the fettling area of the IXL Metal Castings Foundry.
These castings can vary in weight up to 1500kg and requires an individual with capability for physical manual work.
The successful incumbent will also be required to carry out general labour duties within the fettling area of the foundry as reasonably requested.
What we look for –
• Experience with physical manual work
• Experience working with metal
• General computer skills (outlook and data entry capabilities)
• Forklift Licence
• Good understanding of OHS requirements and a safety attitude
