Job Description

Position Title: Fettler / Metal Worker Labourer
Reports To: Foundry Supervisor
Direct Reports: Nil
Key Relationships: Foundry Supervisor, Foundry Leading Hand, General Manager, Foundry Team
Location: 1-15 Wood Street, South Geelong VIC

The role of Metal Worker Labourer (Fettler) involves the use of hand and pneumatic tools to remove excess metal from the various castings in the fettling area of the IXL Metal Castings Foundry.   These castings can vary in weight up to 1500kg and requires an individual with capability for physical manual work.

The successful incumbent will also be required to carry out general labour duties within the fettling area of the foundry as reasonably requested.

Your day-to-day activities may include but are not limited to;

  • Cut and dress castings to internal IXL Quality Standards

  • Knock out castings from moulds and removing runners, risers and flash

  • Operation of the shot blasting machine

  • Operation of air-grinder and air-chisel

  • Operation of JIP Cranes

  • Pack castings onto pallets for dispatch

  • General Foundry Labour duties as reasonably requested

Success in this area will be determined by your ability to adhere to IXL standard operating procedures, working as a team and maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and your team.

Ensures that all employees within their area of responsibility are fully aware of IXL’s safety plans, expectations and actively encourage employees to participate and contribute toward OH&S training where required. Safe working practices must be maintained at all times, with a demonstration of duty of care and active identification of hazards, assessing risks and reporting through the appropriate channels.
